NSCC Reportedly On The Verge Of A Strike

A strike could be looming at NSCC. The Northwest State Community College Education Association, according to the Bryan Times, has authorized their bargaining team to deliver a 10-day strike notice to the school’s administration.

Earlier this week, a unanimous vote to employ the strike tactic was reached following months of what the Education Association has labeled distrustful behavior and inability to act on the part of college leaders.

The organization’s leaders have complained that several terminated employees’ time sheets were missing key chain of command administrative signatures and that the administration has failed to comply with requests to provide them the time sheets.

The strike authorization means that the bargaining team now has the ability to set a strike date if a settlement is not reached soon.

Mari Yoder, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Northwest State, made the following statement on Thursday.

“The college continues to work through the negotiation process in good faith and is hopeful that the fact-finding process scheduled for Jan. 16, 2015 will resolve the dispute. It is unfortunate and disappointing that the Association has chosen to take their action prior to the conclusion of the fact-finding process. The college administration remains committed to providing high quality educational experiences to the students of NSCC.”
