Bettie J. Groff, 91

Bettie J. Groff, age 91, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 12:20 P.M., surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Edgerton, she was a 1943 graduate of Edgerton High School. She had worked as a retail clerk for several stores in Edgerton, with her longest employment at the Edgerton Hardware. She was a member of the Edgerton Church of Christ and was an active member of the Edgerton Free Store board for many years. She enjoyed reading and watching the birds around her home.

Bettie J. Groff was born on May 22, 1925, near Edgerton, the daughter Franklin E. and Eva Blanche (Pollock) Weber. She married Russell P. Groff on January 19, 1946, in Bryan, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Paula (James) Shiple and Susan (Randy) Herman, both of Edgerton; six grandchildren, Jeff Gruver, Amy Gruver, Doug (Tonya) Imm, Mike (Kim) Imm, Amanda Herman and Sarah Herman; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Arlyn Meyer, of Bryan, Gladys Skiles, of Edgerton and Mary Wright, of Huntington, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Bible; and four brothers, Russell, Paul, Jerry and Donald Weber.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edgerton Church of Christ with Pastors Jeff Brookins and D.V. Dillinger officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. in the church. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
