Defiance Creates Incentive Package For JM

Defiance officials are laying the groundwork for one area employer, Johns Manville. A new proposal establishes a job creation incentive program for the company, which is planning a $50 million expansion at its Carpenter Road plant. The company promises to create no fewer than 24 new jobs. In return, the company will be given a $13,000 tax incentive annually for 10 years through the Defiance Community Improvement Corporation. Council also approved a related ordinance which supports an enterprise zone agreement…or tax abatement…between county commissioners and Johns Manville for the same development.
