Gerald O. Kent, 70

Gerald O. Kent, 70 years, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Gerald was born on December 6, 1945, in Grundy, Virginia the son of the late Berman and Alpha (Elswick) Kent. He was a 1964 graduate of Grundy High School. He then attended East Tennessee State University. He was employed at General Motors in Defiance as a tow motor operator for 30 years, retiring in 1997. Gerald enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his three sons, Jerry Kent of Defiance, Jeff Kent of Defiance, and Barry Kent, of Columbus; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda (Arnie) Rakes of Defiance and Gege (Birdie) Gerken of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Kent.

Memorial services for Gerald O. Kent will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 in the First Church of God, 561 Carter Road, Defiance, with Pastor Larry Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday morning. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio.
