Jeffery Morgan Siebert, 68

Jeffery Morgan Siebert, age 68, of Wauseon, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Fulton Manor in Wauseon. He was born in Defiance on December 19, 1948. ”Jeff” was adopted into the home of Fred and Ruth (Comer) Siebert at six weeks of age and later was joined by siblings, Marcia (Abolt), Thomas and Betsy. His parents and Marcia have preceded him in death.

Even as a child, Jeff loved the outdoors, being a Boy Scout (he attained the Life Scout merit and had all the medals and paperwork complete for becoming an Eagle Scout but life intervened before he could complete it). As an adult, he used that love of nature in hiking, camping, fishing, tying flies, traveling to many national parks, outdoor photography, and organic gardening.

Jeff graduated from Bowsher High School in Toledo in 1966, their first graduating class. In 1969 he joined the U.S. Marines and served in Vietnam as a forward radio operator. After the Marines, he worked in the pipe supply industry but left that job to follow his dream of becoming a counselor and marriage and family therapist. He received a BA in Human Development and a MA in Family therapy from Bowling Green State University, and later a Masters in Counseling from Heidelberg College. From 1986 – 2013 he worked as a program manager and therapist at the Fulton Stress Center at the Fulton County Health Center.

Jeff married his wife, Sidney (Guthrie) on may 8, 1995, and she survives. Also surviving are brother, Thomas (Debora) Siebert, sister, Betsy (Bill) Zeiter, six nieces, three nephews; step-children, Matthew (Stacey) Hallett, Kathleen (Evan) Mendez, Joe Hallett, Tony Hallett; three grandsons and two granddaughters.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held, at a later date. The service will be held at Oak Openings Evergreen Lake. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to: Matt Hallett, Hallett Legal Group, 35651 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio 44011, for use in establishing educational funds for each of the grandchildren.
