Montpelier Council Asked to Reconsider Medical Pot

In Montpelier, a village resident and local pastor urged the Montpelier Village Council to reconsider repealing its moratorium on medical marijuana. Members of the Montpelier Village Council heard from resident Al Coci regarding the proposed resolution during Monday’s regular meeting. Recent polling suggests that more than 60 percent of Americans now says they support marijuana legalization. Support for allowing medical use of marijuana with doctors’ supervision is closer to 90 percent. A majority of 1,544 doctors said that medical marijuana should be legalized nationally and that it can deliver real benefits to patients, according to a new survey by WebMD/Medscape. But, solid data on marijuana’s health benefits are lacking.
