Ohio Proud Kansas Strong caravan heading to southern plains

At the beginning of March, wildfires ripped through the southern plains. Those wildfires destroyed cattle, homes, barns, and hundreds of thousands of acres of land.
Local farmers and truckers here in the tri-state region have stepped up to lend a “helping hand”. A group from Williams County, Ohio who call themselves “Ohio Proud Kansas Strong” left the area Thursday night carrying 26 truck loads of items for ranchers who lost everything in wildfires last month.
The Northwest Ohio group had a huge send off from area communities from Montpelier to the mound in Angola before hitting I-69.
Another area group from Branch County, Michigan and Steuben County, Indiana are gathering supplies to head out on April 21st known as “Fire Family Helpers”, organized by Ashley Westfall from California Corners in Branch County. Westfall says, like the group from Ohio, her group is busy gathering items.
Westfall says the wildfire victims out west have lost almost everything.
If you missed helping the Ohio group and feel moved to help the second group leaving the tri-state area, you can contact Westfall at 517.227.4079. You can also find out more information on their facebook page, “Fire Family Helpers”.
The Ohio group, who was set to be in Kansas Friday, has a facebook page called “Ohio Proud Kansas Strong”.
