8TH GRADERS TO GET iPADS IN DEFIANCE

The Defi­ance City Board of Edu­ca­tion decided at Wednesday’s meet­ing, eighth-graders will have the use of iPads at the start of the next school year.

The board approved iPad use in the class­room for grades 8–12. For the past two years, stu­dents and teach­ers in grades 9–12 have used iPads.

The two-year lease on the cur­rent iPads is expir­ing and the dis­trict can enter into a buy-back pro­gram offer­ing an aver­age of $220 for the 700 iPads. The dis­trict will then use that money to buy 950 iPads and 55 desk­top com­put­ers. The extra 250 iPads will be used by the eighth graders.
