Betty Kyser, 95

Mary E. “Betty” Kyser, age 95, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 9:32 A.M. on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, where she had been a resident. For many years in the 1950s and 1960s, she managed the Williams Variety Store in Stryker. She and her first husband, William Laub owned and operated the Williams Variety Store in Lyons, Ohio in the early 1960s. She later worked at and retired from Beam Stream in Montpelier. She was a member of the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren in Bryan.

Born June 17, 1919, in Bryan, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Catherine (Jolly) Bowen. She was united in marriage with William K. Laub on April 10, 1938 and following his death, she married Robert J. Kyser on December 20, 1990 and he also preceded her in death.

Betty is also survived by her son, Ken (Cathy) Laub, of Archbold; daughter, Jill (Lewis) Stough, of Pioneer; stepchildren, Robert (Frieda) Kyser, Jr., of Cape Coral, Florida, Lee (Peggy) Kyser, of Roswell, New Mexico, and Paul (Barb) Kyser, of Bryan; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband of 52 years, William “Bill” Laub, second husband, Robert J. Kyser, Sr.; son, Larry Laub, infant daughter, Diane Elaine; step daughters, Alice Hardman and Karen Tyner; sister, Muriel Myers and brother, Sherm Bowen.

Funeral services for Mary E. “Betty” Kyser will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with Dr. Nancy Berkheiser officiating. Burial will follow at Shiffler Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
