Defiance Addressing Traffic Changes Soon

Although time is running short, as long as they can round up enough signs to make it happen, Defiance city officials plan to implement the new one-way traffic pattern for Fort Street and Washington Avenue, north of Second Street, by the end of this year.

The Crescent News reports that most everyone seems to be in agreement with the recommendation to make traffic there one-way for eastbound and southbound drivers. Once the change is in place, the continuous route will no longer be available as a shortcut for westbound motorists on Second Street attempting to reach Clinton Street by turning north onto Washington. Now, city officials are taking an inventory of signs to determine if they have enough to make the change.

If the city does not have enough signs on hand, the rest will have to be ordered ASAP. Some people fear that the new traffic pattern will lead to congestion though.
