Donald P. Guenther, 89

Donald P. Guenther, 89, of Montpelier passed away Thursday afternoon at his home.  He was born on May 24, 1930 in Blasdell, New York to Andrew A. and Lillian Grace (Weiss) Guenther.  Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He married Ellen C. Hurd and she survives.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee.  Donald retired from Conrail Railroad after almost 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and his beloved Buffalo Bills.

Donald is survived by his wife Ellen; children Diane (John) Larson, Annette (Larry) Ruhland, Matthew Guenther; step children Robert Hood, Diana Landsman, Linda Cummings and Eileen Monington; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister Jean Musik.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, sons Donald Guenther Jr. and Vincent Guenther, step children Nora Hood and Chris Hood, siblings Delores Green, Margaret Shotz and Robert Guenther.

Visitation for Donald will be on Monday, December 16th from 11am-3pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier.  Services will follow at 3pm with Father Jim Halleron to officiate.  Military Honors will be presented by the Montpelier Veterans.  Donald will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Stockton, New York.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Williams County Department of Aging, Meals on Wheels Program.
