James Alfred Silcox, 94

James Alfred Silcox, age 94, of Archbold, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020, at CHP – Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Prior to his retirement he had worked at the former Lauber Manufacturing Company in Archobld for 50 years.

James was born in Bryan, Ohio, on July 7, 1926, the son of Cecil Donald and Cecil Florence (Dohrn) Silcox. On June 5, 1949, he married Mary Smith, and she survives. James was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold where he had taught Sunday School and helped with the Youth Fellowship. He enjoyed bowling, loved woodworking, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are two daughters, Mary (John) Brigle of Edon, Julie (Mike) Blackwood of Sunbury, Ohio; two grandsons, Kenneth and Travis Blackwood; and one great-granddaughter, Kendra Blackwood. He was preceded in death by grandson, Mark Blackwood; brother, Richard Silcox; and sister, Mary Wood.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, all services will be private. Interment will be in the Archbold Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to CHP – Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice or St. John’s Christian Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.grisierfh.com.
