Melvin Stickley, 74

Melvin D. Stickley, age 74, passed away Tuesday evening, May 27, 2014 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Melvin started his career in law enforcement working as a policeman for the Village of Archbold for two years. After that, he served as a Deputy Sheriff for Fulton County, retiring in 1990 after 25 years. He had also served as a Firefighter for Wauseon for 10 years.

He was born in Delta on March 3, 1940, the son of Alfred J. and Norma M. (Kline) Stickley. On April 30, 1963 he married Glenna Rupp, and she survives. He was a member of Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon. Mel was an Army Veteran, having served from 1958 -1961. He was also a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post.

Surviving is his wife, Glenna; children, Kathy (Dave) Conn of Millersburg, Ohio, Brenda Stickley-Lippert of Wauseon, Keith (Candy) Stickley of Wauseon, Brian (Michelle) Stickley of Delta, 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Kenny Stickley and Harold (Jo) Stickley, both of Wauseon. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard, Roger and Robert.

Visitation for Melvin will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 2, 2014 in the Chapel at Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon. The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, also in the Chapel at Crossroads Evangelical Church, with Pastor Matt Boyers and Pastor Tyler Quillet, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery, where Military Rites will be provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
