Michael Coopshaw, 89

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Michael Coopshaw, 89 died in Wauseon Ohio November 27th with his family by his side.

Born March 31, 1925 in Rocky River Ohio to parents Louis and Mary Opra Coopshaw. He attended School in Riga, Michigan. Mike served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. Upon returning from service he married Marcella May Engler in March 1946. They have been married 68 years.

He grew up in Riga Michigan and lived in rural Fulton County, Ohio for many years. Mike worked at Kewaunee Scientific Corporation in Adrian, Michigan until retiring in 1987. He was proud of representing his fellow workers in Washington D.C. And helping to secure the retirement benefits they received.

Mike was a member of The Czech Dancers Polka Club and served as a Fulton County 4H leader with the Chesterfield Feeders for over 25 years. He and Marcella loved Polka dancing, camping and traveled all over the United States. He particularly loved his friends at Oakshade Raceway and you would see him there every Saturday night during racing season. After his retirement, Mike and Marcella spent over 25 winters at LeLynn Resort in Polk City, Florida.

Mike will be especially remembered for his joy, happiness, quick laugh and enthusiasm for life which he freely shared with all he met. For those who knew him, his sense of humor was legendary and belly laughs were standard at every gathering of family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Marcella Coopshaw of Wauseon, Ohio. His children, Sharon Huffman (Ed) Cook of Lyons, Ohio, Kenneth Coopshaw of Wauseon, Larry (Barbara) Coopshaw of Delta, Ohio, Linda (Blaine) York of Wauseon and Ricky (Elaine) Coopshaw of Wauseon. Grandchildren, Jeff, Jamie, Jodi, Chad, Timmy, Lisa, Jeremy, Charlie and Erin and 25 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Services will be held Monday, December 1 at 11 a.m. At Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home. Burial will be at Winameg Cemetery after the service at Edgar-Grisier Chapel. Relatives and Friends are welcome at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 19 S. Fulton St. Wauseon on Sunday, November 30 from 3 to 8:00 p.m. for visitation.
