NAPOLEON COUNCILMAN PASSES

A long-time Napoleon fireman and a man who was currently serving as a member of the Napoleon City Council has passed away.

80 year old James Hershberger died Tuesday at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Emergency crews answered a call for help on Monday evening at the Napoleon City Building following a city council meeting.

Hershberger was taken to the Henry County Hospital, then moved by air ambulance to the University of Toledo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Hershberger was once the chief of the Napoleon Fire Department, serving there for 30 years before he retired in 1989. Then he was elected to the city council where he served the past 20 years.

Hershberger also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955.
