Robert Miller Neal, 84

Robert Miller Neal, 84 years, of Bryan, passed away Friday evening, June 6, 2014 at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, Bryan, Ohio.  Bob was born January 26, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Stanley Miller and Freida Ruth (Somerside) Neal.  He was a 1948 graduate of Montpelier High School.  Bob served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, attaining the rank of Staf Sargent.  He married Susan I. Delventhal on February 14, 1953 in Angola, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2005.  Bob was employed as a Draftsman for Mohawk Tools, Inc. Montpelier, one of he first employees hired by Mohawk, beginning in 1953, and retiring in 1986 with 33 years of service.  In his later years, Bob enjoyed gardening and bird watching.  He was a former Little League Baseball Coach in Montpelier, coaching two championship teams.  He enjoyed bowling, going to breakfast with “the boys” each Saturday, watching Ohio State Buckeye games and Detroit Tiger baseball games.  He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Surviving are his three sons, Dave Neal and his wife, Brenda Phillips of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Chillicothe, Ohio, Tom and his wife Nancy Neal of Greenville, South Carolina and Jason Neal of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; two granddaughters, Emily and Isabelle Neal, both of Greenville, South Carolina and his dear friend, Thelma Taylor of Bryan.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan as well as one sister, Grace Hirshfeld.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in Glenwood Cemetery, Napoleon, Ohio with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the Bert C. Taylor American Legion Post 300, Napoleon.  There will not be any visitation.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio.
