Robert S. “Bob” Harlow, 87

Robert S. “Bob” Harlow, 87 years, of Bryan, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, after a brief battle with cancer.  Bob was born and raised in Nutley, New Jersey, the son of the late Robert and Bessie Harlow.  As a teenager, Bob raised prized bantam chickens, including a “Best in Show” at Madison Square Garden.  He was also a member of the Essex Troop, a precision horse riding club.  He enjoyed heading “down the Jersey Shore” with his high school buddies.  A Utah State graduate, where he competed on the rifle/marksmanship team.  A U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany.  He completed a forty plus year sales career in the industrial printing industry, beginning with Anderson-Vreeland and later joining Ideal Roller and Graphics.  His career took him, from New Jersey to California to Ohio, settling in Bryan in 1959.  Bob enjoyed cooking.  He and Ann loved entertaining their friends and hosted many dinner parties.  Surf fisherman, he caught many striped bass off Island Beach State Park, New Jersey.  Bob was an avid golfer and a 50-year member of the former Orchard Hills Country Club.  He carded four holes-in-one, three at his beloved OHCC.  He and Ann hosted popular “Top of Ohio” Pro-Am parties.  He loved his yellow Labrador Retriever, Shanks.

 

Surviving is his loving wife Ann of 61 years; three children, Bob (Marcia) Harlow of Louisville, Kentucky, Bill (Sandra) Harlow of Zionsville, Indiana and Beth (Chad) Brace of Chicago, Illinois; two granddaughters, Lindsey Harlow of Zionsville, Indiana and Olivia (Daniel) Hermanns of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Memorial services for Robert S. “Bob” Harlow will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 506 Oxford Drive, Bryan with Pastor Barry Sweet officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, administrative and housekeeping staffs at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo, Genesis HealthCare of Bryan, Great Lakes Caring Hospice.  Special notes of appreciation to Dr. Kevin Park of Parkview Health, Jane Tucker Hausch of Genesis HealthCare, who assisted with Bob’s Masters Golf Tournament viewing party on April 13th, and to all who were able to attend.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church, Bryan.
