The three-day jury trial is postponed for Thomas Smith, 24, of Toledo, who faces felony charges of murder and more after the stabbing death of a Montpelier woman in late February. The trial’s start date was postponed to May 29…coronavirus. Smith is accused of killing Danialle Swan, 24, of Montpelier, stabbing her several times in the chest and abdomen with a folding knife at a gas station in Toledo. In March, Smith pled not guilty to the charges. In early May, Smith’s defense team resubmitted the plea as not guilty by reason of insanity. Smith was found competent to stand trial in mid-April. He is being held at the Lucas County Jail on $1 million bond.
