William Freed, 79

William G. Freed, 79 years, of Bryan, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, under the care of Hospice.  Bill was born July 5, 1934 in Montpelier to the late Harry and Evelyn (Clougher) Freed.  He was a 1952 graduate of Bryan High School.  Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He married Susan Marie DeWees on September 21, 1957 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan. Bill was a Tool and Die maker working at ITT-Higbie Automotive in Archbold for 26 years.  He was a member of New Hope Community Church, Bryan Moose Lodge 1064, Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233 and Suburban Golf Course.  Bill was an avid bowler and participated in several leagues at Bryan Lanes.  Bill had the gift of making people feel at ease and could strike up a conversation with anyone.  He also knew how to tell a great joke and deliver the punch line in perfect rhythm.

Surviving is his wife, Susan M. Freed of Bryan; two daughters, Kathryn J. (Gary) Schmidt of Worthington, Ohio and Kara M. (Tom) Girten of Whitehouse, Ohio; three grandchildren, Cameron Schmidt of Worthington, Kristine Girten of Whitehouse and Sarah Girten, also of Whitehouse; one sister, Phyllis (Richard) Goldstein of Burt Lake, Michigan and one brother, Lyle (Linda) Freed of Bryan;  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lenore Yahraus and a special cousin, Mary Agnes Friedel.

Visitation for William G. Freed will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for William G. Freed will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the funeral home with Pastor David Nicholls officiating.  Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, rural Bryan.
